At its core, the topic of digitalization in 2021 is (still) about interaction, networking and the intelligent use of data. At Evonik, digitization activities focus on four core topics, so-called hashtags (#), which also correspond to the main areas of work at Evonik Digital. We have evaluated many potential use cases, explored technologies and methods, and initiated and supported projects. Digital projects that are identified as relevant and promising for Evonik are continued in the corresponding operational or functional departments after the implementation phase.
#COGNITIVESOLUTIONS - EXPLORING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR EVONIK
This topic area represents new opportunities to innovate processes, products, services and business models by the use of artificial intelligence. Key ingredients: Data and an agenda that combines respective activities and competences within and outside the group in a value-adding approach.
#DIGITALBUSINESS - FLUENT DATA INTEGRATION, MORE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
Digital sales channels are becoming increasingly important in the chemical industry. Thus, group-wide strategic approaches for e-commerce solutions are being tested, further developed and scaled. Understanding the customer journey and improved interaction through digital marketing creates a foundation for customer-focused solutions.
#HUMANWORK - EXPANSION AND IMPROVEMENT OF DIGITAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
#HumanWork symbolizes a future-oriented, modern working environment. An important prerequisite for this is a corporate culture that is open to change and capable of learning. A culture in which continuous feedback, experimentation, flexible working methods are part of everyday life. The activities in the #HumanWork topic area to further develop and strengthen a digital and agile culture at Evonik, have now essentially been incorporated into the new HR structure and process organization. This also includes the support of the internal social network.
#SMARTOPERATIONS - INCREASING EFFICIENCY IN PRODUCTION AND TECHNOLOGY
Seamless connectivity, immersive technologies, advanced analytics and autonomous processes are driving production and technology forward, making processes safer, more efficient and faster. Data-driven traceability of products and payment flows in supply chains will enable new business and distribution models.
